I was walking in the garden when I saw what I mistook for a dead flower head. It was caught in the new green growth, it had to go. When I disturbed it with my hand the flower head scattered. It was a group of baby spiders! sooo tiny - each the size of a pinhead. I did what I do - I ran to get my camera. Later when I loaded the shots I couldn't help thinking they looked like they were taken under water. Swim at your own risk... The next day I went back with a plan... I was going to capture the perfect shot. The day previous they had been sooo hard to shoot. Tiny and fast! If they felt the slightest movement they would scatter. They could move at the speed of light. Really. But -they were gone. Ever one of the thousands - gone. Thousands... really! ; ) I had my plan and they had theirs. That's life. I am sure I will run into them again some day soon - one at a time... and they won't be so tiny or so fun to see! These little marvels of nature will be the size of grapes in no time... I will be keeping my eyes open.
When my sister and I were little, there was a spider in her room and so she decided to step on it to kill it before bed. The split second after she was screaming because thousands of baby spiders scattered across her floor. It was not the funnest experience for a little girl but the first time I realized about baby spiders
