She got out of bed
on two strong legs.
It might have been
otherwise. She ate
cereal, sweet
milk, ripe, flawless
peach. It might
have been otherwise.
She took the dog uphill
to the birch wood.
All morning she did
the work she loves.
At noon she lay down
with her mate. It might
have been otherwise.
They ate dinner together
at a table with silver
candlesticks. It might
have been otherwise.
She slept in a bed
In a room with paintings
on the walls, and
planned another day
just like this day...
Today
we are thankful
it is not otherwise.
based on a poem by
Jane Kenyon
"Otherwise"

These are really beautiful pictures...especially with the poem. Its so elegant.
I have long been an admirer of Jane's poetry. I think she would have been honored to have her poem personalized... . The world is a lot quieter without her. I am glad your story has a happier end.
oh, my. I saw the pics, read the poem, and SOBBED! All of the emotion of last year swept back over me..along with a feeling of relief and gratitude to God for all of the miracles we saw.
